Hubby IV: Chinatown Art Community Portraits
Personalized clothing and concept by Bettina Hubby
Set design by Dan Hug
Photographed by Joshua White
Mountain Bar in Chinatown, Los Angeles
2004
Hubby asked fellow members of the Chinatown art community to give her an item of their clothing to transform in an homage to their personality. When this was complete, the participant was asked to sit for their portrait clothed in the item. Working alongside then gallerist Dan Hug, who created the set, and Joshua White, the photographer, Hubby orchestrated the photoshoot. All participants were invited to wear their newly Hubbified clothing to the exhibition opening, which was held at Mountain Bar in Chinatown. Participants included: Rachel Allen, Elizabeth Anderson, Steven L. Anderson, Skip Arnold, Gary Cannone, Gerald Davis, Dave Deany, Jacques De Beaufort, Mari Eastman, Karl Hugo Erikson, Tony Fernández, Seth Geller, Karin Gulbran, Steve Hanson, Evan Holloway, Daniel Hug, Charles Barlow Irvin, Alice Könitz, Gretchen Larsen, Jonathan “Jonny” David Lieberman, Sabina McGrew, Thomas William Mckenzie, Joel Mesler, Jill Newman, Clancy Pearson, Jennifer Rochlin, Joe Sola, Frances Stark, Arlo Stark-Hanson, Mary Weatherford.
